On June 15, 2026, a 40 kW solar power plant was officially inaugurated at the Chuy Boarding School for Orphans and Children Deprived of Parental Care.
The new solar installation is the first facility commissioned under a large-scale initiative aimed at introducing renewable energy solutions in public educational institutions across the Chuy and Osh regions, as well as the cities of Bishkek and Osh.
The opening ceremony took place during the launch of a model school supported by the Russian Federation and the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP). During the event, participants were introduced to key elements of the school's sustainable development model, including a bakery, a greenhouse garden, and the newly commissioned solar power plant.
The solar installation will significantly reduce electricity costs, strengthen the school's energy resilience, and provide part of its energy demand through clean solar power. In addition to its economic benefits, the system will serve as a practical educational tool, helping students gain firsthand knowledge of renewable energy technologies and sustainable development principles.
The event also marked the official launch of a nationwide program to install solar power systems in public educational institutions throughout Kyrgyzstan.
As part of the initiative, solar power plants with a total capacity of 195 kW will be designed, supplied, installed, and commissioned at eight schools across the country. Individual systems will range from 20 to 40 kW in capacity.
The project is being implemented by Green Horizon LLC in partnership with UNISON Group, with the support of the Russian Federation and the United Nations World Food Programme.
This new stage in the development of school infrastructure demonstrates how modern green technologies can not only reduce operating costs for educational institutions but also create a more sustainable and innovative learning environment for future generations.
