A training on calculating energy efficiency of buildings was held in Bishkek

About 50 Kyrgyz experts have mastered a new energy accounting tool. A unique training on calculating the energy efficiency of buildings using an updated Excel tool was held in Bishkek today. The training was conducted both online and offline and became an important step in improving the skills of specialists in the field of energy efficiency.
The President of UNISON Group, Nurzat Abdyrasulova, presented an overview of legislation and regulations in the field of energy efficiency of buildings. The Law of the Kyrgyz Republic "On Energy Conservation" has become the basis for creating an effective institutional and regulatory framework aimed at improving energy efficiency.
In particular, article 9 of the Law on Energy Surveys clearly states that such surveys should be conducted only by certified specialists who have passed state certification in authorized bodies.
Lauren Socal, an international expert from Italy, presented new approaches to calculating the energy efficiency of buildings using the revised Excel tool. He spoke about the specifics of calculating energy needs, including:

  • Defining building elements
  • Description of enclosing structures
  • Calculation of the hot water supply and ventilation system
  • Calculation of heating and cooling requirements
  • Evaluation of heating, cooling and lighting systems
  • Photovoltaic balance and electricity balance
  • Assessment of energy efficiency indicators, etc.

This tool allows not only to calculate energy needs more accurately, but also to identify areas for optimization, which is an important step towards sustainable development.
The training became part of the project "Accessibility of Quality Energy Efficiency Consulting Services", which is supported by the IKI Small Grants Program, which is part of the International Climate Initiative. The project is funded by the Federal Ministry of Economics and Climate Action (BMWK) and the Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs (AA) of Germany and implemented by Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH.
